Control Panel opening error message

Hello,

I need help on this annoying problem I'm forced to deal with.

Anyway, a month ago I've downloaded a virus that practically destroyed my PC.

I Have done everything in my power to recover it, but somehow I managed to delete something I probably shouldn't have.

Now it's impossible to open Control Panel without a message popping out:

::{26EE0668-A00A-4DD7-9371-BEB064C98683}
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
Did anyone have a similar problem?

Thank you for your help.

Hello Erica,

Well the same thing happened with a friend of mine last week. It took me so much of googling and finally got a solution.

Basically, you get this error message when a specific folder in Explorer gets corrupted or deleted. Just follow the steps given below one by one-

Reboot your Computer in Safe mode and then Log in as Administrator, press Start and just input cmd in the search box. After that press Ctrl+Shift+Enter and then start the process and then type this command- for %a in (c: Windows System32 *.dll) do regsvr32.exe /s "%a

And then press Enter and you're done.

Hope it works.

Good luck

Thanks!!

Yes I do have the same problem before and below are the solutions that I did.

Solution 1:

I repaired the operating system and it worked for me for a few weeks but I already back up my files using this chance. It will be up and running again once you do this but this solution is not permanent.

Solution 2:

I reformat my whole system and then everything works fine after that. I also scanned my back up files to see if any of the viruses that destroyed my system is still there and it does have virus left on the back up.
