Connection Error Code -1 on Updating Ad-Aware Antivirus

Hi! Guys,

I am using Lavasoft’s Ad-Aware and I find it very efficient in detecting threats on my computer, and it did a very nice job on keeping it safe and clean from dangerous viruses.
 
I love it and I’d love to keep it, but last night when I was trying to update it and as soon as the update started, this error showed up that says “Connection error, check your settings” which I really don’t understand.
 
I am fully connected to the internet, and I do not know why this is happening. My friend told me that it is very important to keep your Antivirus up to date. So I need this fixed as soon as possible.
I really need some help right now.

You're experiencing a 'connection error'. When clicking web-update please try updating from the start menu or use one of the workarounds below.
 
  1. Go to, C:Program FilesLavasoftAd-Aware and right click on AAWService.exe
  2. Select properties in popup menu and in the Compatibility tab and change the Compatibility mode to "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP".
  3. Click ‘Apply’ then ‘Ok’.
 
Do the same for Ad-AwareAdmin.exe and then retry the web-update.
 
  1. Go to Control Panel/ Administrative Tools/ Services and locate "Lavasoft Ad-Aware Service".
  2. Stop the Service (if started) and then right click Properties.
  3. Under Login, check "Allow service to interact with desktop" and click Ok.
  4. Restart the service and then retry the web-update.
