I just bought an Ipad and immediately plugged it to my laptop so as to sync my data. I noticed one thing, my ipad does not charge when hooked up to my laptop. I am presented with an unrecognised device. Is there a problem with the ipad or is my laptop in cause. When I plug it in the wall socket, it charges just fine.

If you have a newly bought Apple iPad and you want to connect it to your computer to perhaps sync the data, make sure you have iTunes on your computer. If you don’t have it and you just plugged in your iPad to your computer, since there are no drivers to identify your device, the operating system or Microsoft Windows will report it as an unrecognized device.

To fix this, you need to install iTunes. To download the latest version, visit Download iTunes 12.0.1. It requires Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. This download is for 32-bit Microsoft Windows only. If you have 64-bit operating system, you need the 64-bit version of the installer.

For 64-bit Microsoft Windows, visit iTunes 12.0.1 for 64-bit Windows. It requires 64-bit Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. Microsoft Windows XP is not supported in this version.
