Wordpress is generally for blogging only. It is user-friendly and convenient for beginners. However, it does not provide room for modifications. It is also difficult to upgrade as it tends to get more bugs. Joomla, on the other hand is great for designers, web developers and administrators. It is open for modification, customization and development. The only disadvantage is that it is not user-friendly. Before you decide which one to choose, it is best that you consider first the purpose of your website and your capability in using these content management systems.

Hello,

I guess what kind of ecommerce website you need where user can
interact more with each other or something which is for knowledge purpose?

If for user interaction I guess you're beginner i will suggest you to
use WordPress as it is very good for novice user and provides rich extensions
to design a website.

But if you're planning knowledge purpose i will recommend you to use Joomla
as it has its own advantages for designing website of these types.

Hi Jughead,

I am a web developer and for my opinion, Joomla is more convenient than WordPress. WordPress is mainly for blogging and for beginners. It is not customizable but is easy to use. For Joomla, it is customizable and you can add anything you like for your e-commerce website. You can customize the website as you like it to appear and also its easy when writing articles for your site. You can also use templates to create your website.

Alternatively, there are other content management systems (CMS) specifically designed for e-commerce websites. They have templates and are designed to help developers design and develop customizable e-commerce websites.

You can take a look at Magento, PrestaShop, OpenCart, Business Catalyst.

Thank you.
