When I am trying to configure virtual directory against my server that is running IIS-7.0 using "Configure Web Synchronization Wizard", I am getting an error message “IIS was not found on the Web Server. Please specify a computer name that has IIS installed.” How will I fix this issue?

Hey Ranby,

Its an IIS and Windows compatibility error. You have to turn on compatibility option in Windows features for the Web Server in order to create Virtual Directory against your Server.

Go to “Program and Features” in “Control Panel”. Click “Turn Windows Features on or off”. Expand “Internet Information Services”. Click “Web Management Tools” and under “Web Management Tools” expand “IIS 6 Management Compatibility”. Select both check boxes “IIS 6 WMI Compatibility” and “IIS Metabase and IIS 6 configuration compatibility”. Click ok and restart system if the server is not online. I

f you are using Windows server 2008 steps are a bit different. In “Start Menu” Click “Server Manager”. Expand “Roles” right click “Web Server (IIS)” then click “Add Role Services”. In the Add Role Services expand “Management Tools” then “IIS 6 Management Compatibility” similarly select both check boxes “IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility” and “IIS 6 WMI Compatibility” Click Next, and Install.

Now create Virtual Directory it will work.
