Computer USB port not working

There are two USB ports at the front of my computer and it was working perfectly fine until yesterday. When I used one of it today it won’t read my pen drive. I plugged the pen drive on the other port and it reads it. I have also tried plugging other removable devices on that port but still it won’t read them.

What is wrong with that USB port? I cannot seem to troubleshoot this problem. I have done nothing to damage that USB port. I need help please.

Hi,

Nice to see this question. This is very common problem in the world. As per your question, there is two USB port in front side and working only one port, another port is not working. For this case you can do only one thing, if possible change the front side cable which is attached with Motherboard.

Another way also there. Please contact with your vendor, so that they will change this free of cost if you are under warranty. Another way that you can buy a USB extension cord from shop and attach it from back side of your CPU.

If you take out and then get in the USB device with your PC in quick and continuous basis then the port can’t recognize any USB. In this situation, the port may stop operating. Therefore USB device won’t work.

Hello,

First you will have to try to use the device manager and scan the hardware changes. After scanning the hardware changes you just click the start button to your left of the computer, click the run and just type this to the devmgmt.msc.

Open the device manager ; click ok and then you must click the action to scan the hardware changes and must restart your computer to avoid an error to the system. Now check if the USB is working properly. If not working, try to re-install the chipset drivers and download new software in the chipset and just install again to your computer.
