Hi,

After lightning strike, it might fried your motherboard and this is one of the reasons why your computer won't turn on. You might need to check also the fan of your computer if it's spinning. This cause the computer won't turn on if the fan is not spinning.

Once identified that it's the fan itself is causing it, this needs to be replace. This requires troubleshooting, you need open the computer and replace the fan inside. You may also need to try using different outlet, power surge and see it the computer will start working. The wire might get fried when lightning strike, usually caused by electrical spark. If everything failed, I think you need to bring your computer to an expert to take a look at it.

When a lightning occurs, this kind of problem arises to many. This is due to the high intensity of lightning and thunder. And there's many reason why your computer can get damaged. Due to the earthing (ground) of the electric supply not correctly done or the electric volts supply inconsistent. And the main thing your computer is not getting on is that

  1. motherboard got affected due to the volts. then the technician should be approached.
  2. the smps system (i.e. switched mode power supply) which is placed inside the CPU got dead. SMPS sends the power supply to the whole CPU. so that might be the problem. And moreover this is what mostly is found in many of the dead computer. Replacing the SMPS system only might get your computer work again. SMPS system is very much cheap then the motherboard.

Hope this has solved your problem.

One possible cause for that is the fuse on your CPU’s power supply which probably got busted. Every electrical device like TV, DVD player, washing machine, and others has a fuse built into it. The fuse is a piece of electrical device or component connected to the power supply that protects the circuit from power surge which can damage the entire circuitry.

When there is power surge like in the case when there is lightning, the first thing the surge of electricity will struck is the fuse.

Because the fuse has a specific voltage that it can tolerate, when the surge of power hits the fuse, because of the enormous amount of power that will flow through the fuse that goes beyond its limit, the fuse will break resulting to the cutting of the power breaking the flow of electricity.

When electricity is cut off, no further damage will happen to other connecting electrical components in the circuit. The only problem now is that your device will no longer start because of the broken fuse. Fuse can easily be replaced in the power supply. It will not cost you big money. Bring your CPU to the nearest computer repair shop to help you check the problem.
