Computer shuts down often and over heats up

Hi,

I am facing a weird issue with my computer. When it turns on, I am able to work for some time and then it shuts off automatically for no reason. For many days I was facing this problem and I have tried booting into safe mode. I Even performed a repair install of OS, hoping it would help solve the problem. But the problem remained the same.

One day, I also noticed that my computer was getting overheated. So is this problem because of overheating? If yes, what would I be able to do about this problem?

Hi,

The problem that you have mentioned is most probably because of overheating. You have also done a great job testing in safe mode and repairing the OS files. Wherein, if you had not done this, I would have given you the same steps. So since you have sported out that this is no longer a software problem, we may move ahead and view this problem from the hardware angle, that too in computer overheating category.

There is a system that is coded in every Processor. That is nothing but the temperature of processor, and of the entire computer system is monitored and a maximum limit is set, to protect the computer from damage, in case of any overheating, which may lead to heavy damage on the components installed.

We may be able to view the system temperature inside the BIOS screen. And in some computers, there is an option to view the Setting that is set to shut down the computer when it reaches the preset rate of heat.

This may be the problem that your computer might be facing. Check out, if your computer is having an option to check the Processor fan speed If yes, checkout what is available in the BIOS Screen. If you find the Speed status, not working or lower than the normal we can do a single troubleshooting for this problem, if you are technical enough to troubleshoot a hardware problem.

But this is more simple where you just need to open the computer cover and then if you see any dust like particles stuck up, try to clean it gently. Check out for any loose cables, which power up the cooler fan.

Most probably this may fix the issue. If not, I recommend you to call up your Computer manufacturer for assistance.

Dear John Williams,

This is a quite common problem but your question is a bit in complete. You should also tell about your CPU casing and fan situation of in and out. First of all if you have some old PC then might be you processor fan is not working properly and it get heated up after a while using up. Please check it out. And the second possibility is that check your power supply as well as the casing inside front fan. Are they working properly and in a balanced position?

Balancing position means the inside fan i.e. in borrow or top position of the CPU front side is properly exhausting inside heat towards rare position fan i.e. besides you power supply. If you are not familiar with hardware then please consult some hardware expert.

Have a nice day.
