I am an entrepreneur running a small firm which mainly deals with Information Technology project management. It also deals with the sale of computer accessories and also assimilation of computer hardware and software. We also want to combine some software which a part of our staff or all of them can comfortably operate. This software includes those of accounting, sales, collaboration software and Microsoft project, among others. I was wondering whether among saas, iaas and paas, which service provider will benefit us most or is there any other which can suit us better?

Hi Cecile Mattis,

The differences between the SAAS, IAAS and PAAS and which among the three will benefit and will be a more suitable for your company. Let's me begin by introducing the meaning of their acronym. SAAS which is called SOFTWARE AS A SERVICE, while PAAS is called PLATFORM AS A SERVICE. and IAAS is called INFRASTRUCTURE AS A SERVICE.

Now, let's talk about their functions and uses;

  1. INFRASTRUCTURE AS A SERVICE- a service was given by the company, either a small or a large group, or even the government institution. In which they are giving simple computer networking, balancing of your loads, delivering of network contents, even routing, Storing of data commodity, hosting of virtualized operating System.
  2. PLATFORM AS A SERVICE- a service was given by the company, either a small group or a large group, or even the government institution. In which they gave a platform for the development of software applications . It was done mostly through a web which has fast abstractions of the infrastructure that underlies on it.
  3. SOFTWARE AS A SERVICE- a service given by the company, either a small group or a large group, or even the government institution. In which they gave a software that is needed by the client for the system solutions. That software is usually included in the business already, it could also be delivered by differently means or through the internet.

Looking at the uses and functions of three services, I think the best Service that could fit your company are PAAS and SAAS

Hope this might help you.

Thanks.

These acronyms are referred to different layers of cloud computing and they are setup to different categories as layers, where (SaaS) Software as a Service is set to be the top most layer then (PaaS) Platform as a Service is being set as the middle layer and the bottom layer is the (IaaS) Infrastructure as a Service.
Well SaaS is a type of application that needs a logging in account before using the account, its an any type of application that you can only access via web and FYI SaaS is the most likely to use in terms of familiarity also.
While PaaS is known to be at the middle layer, this cloud computing services has its own virtual or cloud server as well as having its own operating system to create, manage and deploy apps.
As IaaS has different function even though IaaS is located at lowest layer among the three it has the capability to scale your virtual server high or low depends on your preferred choice, this cloud computing services takes over the hardware function providing the user its own storage with no actual cost.
Among the three clouds computing services the SaaS is the most likable and preferable to use with whether for personal or business reasons. Hope I was able to provide small information in the simplest and understandable manner.

Good day,

Cloud application services or “Software as a Service” (SaaS) are probably the most popular form of cloud computing and are easy to use. SaaS uses the Web to deliver applications that are managed by a third-party vendor and whose interface is accessed on the clients’ side. Most SaaS applications can be run directly from a Web browser, without any downloads or installations required. SaaS eliminates the need to install and run applications on individual computers. With SaaS, it’s easy for enterprises to streamline their maintenance and support, because everything can be managed by vendors: applications, runtime, data, middleware, O/S, virtualization, servers, storage, and networking. Gmail is one famous example of an SaaS mail provider.
