My Laptop is Compaq v3118au.

I think the integrated nv6150 overheats during use then about a minute it thermally shutdowns.

And just even watching YouTube or any videos it shutdowns and sometimes if you turn on straight after this it wont even turn on. And then sometimes when turn on and boot straight to Blue Screen of death with the message saying "Video driver failed to initialize".

Hi There Buddy!

Upon reading your concerns about your Compaq v3118au Laptop.

I am quite sure that the integrated graphic chip sets is having the problem.

Because of over heat the feet of the chipset are deteriorating its attachment to the main board.

And then if the problem gets worse it will be an unless laptop. It will only turn on but no display.

And the main problem will be on the motherboard because the chipset is attached in there.

Buying a motherboard is quite expensive for repair and much better if you buy a new one.

And learn from the past.

You should use the help of some cooling fans that you can put under your laptop to prevent over heats.

Have a nice day ^_^

There are several issues why you encounter this error.

But a thing that I think will solve this problem is to do a system restore. You can do system restore when windows load.

But since you can’t load your windows, there is another option to do system restore without booting the operating system.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. Press F8 whiles your computer boot.
  3. It will bring you to windows boot menu.
  4. Choose boot in safe mode with command prompt.
  5. Command prompt will show then type %systemroot%system32restorerstrui.exe.
  6. Then follow the instructions to do system restore.

Note: Just choose restore point to the state that you not encounter this problem.
