Hello,

The error is a failure caused by a potential previously failed install or upgrade. When performing an upgrade, registry entries made sometimes negatively affect future installs as they are not removed during rollback of the previous install. To fix this error, you will be required to edit the registry. Note that using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. To avoid this, ensure that you back up the registry before you edit it. The following steps can help you solve the problem.

1.      In your machine, navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetservices and    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSet2services

2.      After navigating to services, delete the following key:

    Citrix.Xip.ClientService

3.      Restart the installation.

Note that this procedure applies to:    Provisioning Services 6.0 and    Provisioning Services 6.1

Thank you.

Hello,

I encountered the same problem and was able to resolve it. After going through a lot of methods listed in the various forums I decided to troubleshoot the problem myself.

I found out that this problem was caused by Citrix XenServer Tools that were installed on the virtual machine.

After uninstalling Citrix XenServer Tools this error was resolved and it allowed the installation of PVS target device software completely.

I hope this information is helpful.
