Choppy Screen and Low Frames Per Second While Playing Games

Greetings fellow TechyV members,

I have run out of options on how to solve my problem and I ask basically asked everywhere but still no luck in finding the perfect solution, so please inform me if this is the right place to ask this question.

I would like to inform you first hand the specifications of my system. I have a Packard Bell, 1.66 ghz processor, 2gb ram, running on Windows Vista. It can run games like Doom 3 and Fallout 3 pretty fairly. But I have this annoying problem while playing games. There is an occasional brief lag and slow downs (the screen refreshes about 20-25 fps) while I am playing, after that it returns to normal and after 2-3 minutes the lag starts again.

I fear that there might be a Video Card problem but I could be wrong. This was not happening before.

Can anyone please give me some advise. I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Buju

If you experience brief lag and slow downs while playing games, then there must be a problem with your graphics card, a resolution actually and it may not be compatible for that game your playing, or it must be a port graphics card. But you can try these options. And by the way have you set the gaming profile if not please do. But you can try these simple steps. Click the start menu and search for the open trouble shooting, then system security, try selecting performance advance and uncheck apply repairs, select the fix findings. Again click the start menu and search view reliability history, and view all reports for that information. You can view it by searching for report.

Hi Budyo,

This may help to your problem

Before you install a game you should check the SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS of that game. Because checking this may help you if your game is COMPATIBLE to your computer. Having the requirements that the requires you can play and enjoy the game without any problem. I suggest you should upgrade your Video card and RAM for better gaming experience.

Hi good day… my suggestion is check the system requirement of the game that you’ve been play, and then your processor is only 1.66 ghz? I suggest to upgrade your Micro Processor to…2.5 ghz or 3.0 ghz. And upgrade your video card also. Thank you.

Hope its help.

Hello Budyo,

Video card problem could in one possible reason as to why your computer is behaving that way when playing games, but it could also be because of another problem.

From the system specifications above, I can see that you have 2 GB RAM capacity, and on your computer you have several installed. The RAM capacity that your system is running on is quite low when it comes to gaming, and therefore the system may be running on low memory when you are playing the game hence freezing and slowing down. The ideal RAM capacity for gaming will be like 6 GB, and therefore you will need to upgrade the RAM capacity of your computer to get the best out of it.
