How can I change my Skype's default message tone because I find it too hard to hear. I always miss a message because of its soft sound.

If you are a MAC user this is how you do it:

– Goto Skype> Preferences>Notifications

– Choose for which you want the ringtone to be modified ( I mean to say which event), say incoming calls.

– Now you can choose the built in sound you prefer.

If you are using Skype version 2:

Open your skype application, in the tool menu , go to ' options… ' , Select ' Sounds' in the Options page, Click on the yellow folder icon that appears next to ' PLay sound for..' options,  Click Browse to open My sounds page. Browser appears where you can select your favourite VoIPFAQ. net  ringtone. Select one and click OK.

Ringtone is now saved. Test using the Play button.

****Note – Under Sound devices Uncheck ' Ring PC Speaker' option.

If your Skype is using the default sound schemes but you find it hard to hear, you can change the default sounds used in the program and use your own sound file if you have. To customize the default sounds used by Skype, in Skype, go to Tools, Options, and then Sounds.

In “Select which event plays a sound”, check the box next to the events or next to an event that you want to play a sound. To preview the sound for the selected event, click on the green play icon. That’s how you select an event and play its sound. To add your own sound file, click Import Sounds and then navigate to the location of your sound file.

But remember when adding your own sound files, if you want to add a WAV file, make sure it is a mono WAV file. Skype doesn’t support stereo WAV files.
