Changing the screen on an Acer Aspire One ZH9

I had to replace the screen on my Acer Aspire One ZH9, but I could not find an exact spare because the original had a CCFL screen (backlit). I decide to settle on an LED screen (also backlit) and got the corresponding converter cable. The converter cable fits perfectly, but the new screen doesn’t work. I tried without cable as well, to no avail. I am at a lost to what to try next. Are there any avenues I can try? Could it be a software problem?
