I have always wanted to modify the folder icons for windows 7, but have not figured out how to do so. What are the required steps?

Follow these steps to change the default icons.
- Select the folder of which you want to change the icon.
- Select its properties and choose “Customize.”
- Now, you can choose from the various options available.
- If you want a custom icon to be displayed then, you will have to browse to that particular destination where the image file resides.
