My pocket PC’s current operating system is in German and I’ve decided to upgrade it into Windows Mobile 2003, and have it installed as ROM. Also, is it possible to install a UK version using my memory card? Are these two possible? If not, then can any of you give me alternative solution? Help would be definitely appreciated.

Change Pocket PC Operating System with Memory Card

Hi Diana, you first need to make sure your device is compatible with windows mobile 2003, and also you cannot install an OS from the memory card. You must connect your device to a standard pc via USB connection.

So basically you can install whatever version of windows mobile that you want as long as its compatible, but not using a memory card, you must connect it to a either a laptop or desktop.

Installing the OS on ROM shouldn’t be a problem since most pocket pc’s actually carry out their system updates/upgrades on the ROM so you won’t need any special procedures for that.

You should also note that you cannot install windows mobile 2003 to your pocket pc using a desktop pc running on windows vista, so in case you are using one, you’ll have to find one with windows xp instead.

Please visit your device manufacturer and Microsoft’s support sites for more information.
