Hello Experts,

I downloaded and installed ccleaner to clean my hard disk and especially my PC’s registry.

I was very happy using it when one day an error message popped up (see below).

It showed a file in the Temporary Internet Files folder and told me to run Chkdsk utility.

How do I run the Chkdsk utility?

Also, please help me on how to resolve this and give a step by step procedure.

Many thanks!

CCleaner.exe – Corrupt File

The file or directory

Please run the Chkdsk utility.

Ccleaner error with help on Chkdsk utility

Hello Ethan,

Well this error message pops up due to corrupted destination files which yyou are trying to clean through ccleaner.

In this case you'll have to start Automatic file fixing and  Error Checking by going to My Computer. Right click on C Drive and in that go to tools and then in the Error checking bar click check now

Also continue running chkdsk utility, as it recommends you to do so and then you can stop it though it will scan all the corrupted files automatically.

Once the chkdsk utility scan is done restart your PC and run ccleaner. You won't get the corrupt file error anymore.

All the best.

Thanks!!
