Hi,

I am a fan of Fable series. I am having a great problem. When I go to play Fable III; I install it and then install games for Windows live. When I go to play it, only a blank screen and a cursor appear and nothing happens anymore. No game menu, no pop-ups. What can I do now?

My system specifications are :

  • Processor: 3.0Ghz Core 2Duo E8400
  • Motherboard: Intel DG41
  • Ram: 3 GB
  • PCI: ATI Raedon HD5670
  • OS: Windows 7 SP1 32 Bit

Thanks.

Welcome to techyv.com,

As you mentioned, you have a great configured PC. So it's not your PC’s fault. I also had the same problem. Then I posted on a different forum. I was asked to copy some illegal contents, download an update of SKIDROW etc. But that’s all nuts. Nothing worked for me.

I found one of my friend's playing Fable III, without any problem and I checked his system. He had a lower card than mine (ATI HD4350) and he was playing it in Windows 7 too. I got confused. He advised me to download Games for Windows Live. I went to the Microsoft site and I got all my answers. Games for Windows Live can’t run in Windows 7 SP1.

That was a great shock for me. I download the latest version of GFWL and then setup my PC with Windows 7. Then I setup the game, install GFWL and do other works. And it works like a charm. I can play Fable III. What a great game it is.

So my opinion is GFWL can’t pop up in Windows 7 SP1, that’s why a blank screen appears. You must be having the same problem and I think this will solve it.

Hi,

I experienced the same issue in the past. After researching this issue all day, I've found that a good deal of other people also experienced this issue, not only with Fable III, but many other games that use "Games for Windows Live". The issue has been around for around two years and unfortunately, it still lingers until right now.

The weird thing is that some people get this issue and some don't. Maybe it's system related, I'm not sure. If you have this problem, I'm afraid you can't play any game that belongs to Games for Windows Live because, many people have tried many things such as uninstalling and reinstalling Games for Windows Live, uninstalling and Reinstalling Fable, and many other things and it still doesn't work.

The only solution I know is to save up some money and buy the original game. That would surely work 😉
