I cannot open an important EXCEL file. This file contains very important info and I really need to make some references from it. I unfortunately only have it saved on my USB drive. I will be very grateful if you can help me solve this problem. I currently use windows XP and office 2000

I think you are facing this problem because of version compatibility issue or file corruption. As your title of the question you going to open the excel file with MS Excel 2000. But this document may be prepared with higher version of Microsoft office package. It may be 2003, 2007 or 2010. If it is prepared by using that version of MS office package you cannot open with Excel 2000. You have to open it with the version that used to prepare the document or higher version.

Another problem is the worst case. That is, if your excel file may be corrupted due to some error copying or due to some another reasons. In that case you will not be able to open it. You have to recopy it into your pen drive from the place that document originally prepared.Â
