Hello Sundararaman.

"PaintDotNet.Native.x64.dll" is one of the DLLs used by Paint.NET.

You may have been trying to delete the folder where Paint.NET is installed to while Paint.NET was still running or has just been closed.  Before you remove this error, you should first decide whether you need Paint.NET or not.  If you don't need it then you should go to Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features > highlight Paint.NET and click "Uninstall".  You probably have to restart your PC for the file's lock to be removed.

If the file is still "locked" after removing Paint.NET and restarting, you might have to use the program called "Unlocker".

Hope this helps!

The error message is referring to some specify file that is called PaintDotNet.Native.x64.dll, which is system file and therefore cannot be deleted. If you had moved some system files by mistake and placed them in the folder that you are trying to delete then you will need to move them back to their rightful locations.

You may also want to close all processes by run by you in the task manager, for there might be a program that is being executed that is linked to one of the files in the folder that you want to delete, and you cannot delete the folder while the file is being executed. So you will need to:

  • Press Ctrl + Alt + Del on the keyboard.
  • And then click on task manager.
  • And then all processes you are running in the task manager window.

Once you have done that, try deleting the folder again and see the response.
