I upgraded my Windows XP to Windows 7 then installed Photoshop 7.0 again on my new OS.  But I cannot access the options tool bar. The shapes and line icons are there but do not open. And also, instead of the default arrow cursor, there is a strange grouping of three miniature icons. Is it possible to run Photoshop 7.0 on my new OS without problems? I’m in plumbing field and I am using Photoshop on laying out plumbing pipes and fixtures for my floor plans. Please help me fix it. Thank you.

I'm sorry but you are running Adobe Photoshop 7.0 on the wrong version of Windows. To give you the detailed information on the application’s specifications, read the information below:

  • Windows XP, Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6A, Windows 2000 Service Pack 2, Windows Millennium, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows 98
  • Pentium 3 or higher processor
  • 128 MB RAM minimum, 192 MB RAM recommended
  • 280 MB available disk space
  • 16-bit color video card or higher
  • 800 x 600 screen resolution or higher
  • CD/DVD-ROM drive

Obviously, you are not running the application in the right operating system. That’s why you are seeing strange icons on the panel and the toolbar is not accessible. Since you are using Windows 7, visit Adobe’s website at http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopfamily.html?promoid=IUGXD so you can find the right version for your Windows.
