Yes, that's true. Windows 8 will be XBOX capable, meaning that you won't see the "Games for Windows" title on games that you buy on disk. Microsoft has rebranded "Windows 8 Games" into "XBOX Windows", invoking the firm's popular gaming console.
The first titles revealed for XBOX windows are the default ones:Â Minesweeper, Solitaire Collection, and Microsoft Mahjong; they are built-in the new OS. But, more will come.
Now regarding the matter of achievement points. Being a mixture of XBOX into Windows you'll get to create an account on XBOX live that will feature your avatar, profile, friends and Gamerscore. The key thing here is the Gamerscore which you'll be able to improve by collecting achievement points. These achievements will be only available for games that will be marketed as "XBOX Windows", though.

The Xbox Windows is a title that Microsoft is hoping people will come across more often for it is attempting to mash up the two of its most famous brands into one that will be able to offer direct-selling games on the Windows 8 PCs as well as the tablets.
Under this new banner, Minesweeper is the Metro-styled Microsoft Minesweeper and it as well allows for Achievements and Gamer score points for those tactical endeavors that are too high as long as one is losing the game.
Other games such as Solitaire and Mahjong are expected to get a treatment like that of Minesweeper as reported by strange scientists on Xbox360Achievements.org website.

If a game is released for both the 360 and as a GFWL game, that does not mean they will be able to play against each other. Some games can, however.
Games that are cross -platform will share one single achievement list, while games that are not will have two separate lists. This mean if the game is cross-platform you will only be able to earn 1000 game score, and can do so off either version .
You will get achievement points just like you would playing on your 360, and using the same Gamertag, while on your PC. Once you load up a game on you computer for the first time, you will have to do something similar to an account recovery that downloads your Gamescore and all your information onto your PC.
