Can’t change laptops display settings on Windows Vista

Hello,

I am currently using my laptop computer which I have docked using a port replicator to my LCD TV.

The problem is that whenever I open the Display Properties dialog box and then click the Settings tab in Microsoft Windows Vista in order to change the display settings, I receive an error message as indicated below. How can I solve this?

Thanks in advance.

Invalid Display Settings

The currently selected graphics display driver cannot be used. It was written for a previous version of windows.

The system has been started using the default VGA driver.

Please contact your hardware manufacturer to get an upgraded driver or select one of the Microsoft provided drivers.

Hey Joseph,

Windows has hotfix for that, download it from here,

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/891387

See if that helps you in getting this error solved. In the mean time, I'd also request you to make sure that everything is upgraded to latest, specially the display driver. You could also start Windows update and install all the updates which Windows might found.

Post back if you need further help on this.
