My computer has a compact disk ROM that only plays CDs. I would be happier if it could also read other formats of DVDs. I have a feeling that there is a way in which enhancements can be made to suite the description of what I want. What can I do to enable my computer read DVDs too?  And is there any software that I can install to help my computer read DVDs? Thanks in advance.

All of we will think that it is not possible to upgrade a CD-ROM to DVD-ROM. But actually you can upgrade your CD-ROM if it is latest version means not 2x – 24x. If yours is a 24x – 40x, 40x – 50x then you can mode your CD-ROM. For that you want adjust your laser head. The track pitch of CD’s is 1.63 microns whereas for DVD’s it is 0.83 microns, that’s reason why DVD’s store a lot.
