Hi, I want to operate two different operating systems on different VPS that are hosted on the same main server. Is this possible? Are there any further configurations that are to be performed for the two OS to work? Please help
Can I operate different OS on the same VPN?
Yes, you can install two different operating system on different VPS that are hosted on the same main server depending on the VPS software you are using. For example, in Xen you can run two different OS independently. This is a container based VPS software and each instance of it has its own complete OS. The different OS run independently from the main server. The main server will never know that it is running different software.
Another side if you use OpenVz then it runs only one operating system. All the different VPS account divide the main OS into different individual part. These parts are used by different isolated account. OpenVz will not allow you to install two different operating systems on different VPS account hosted on the same main server.
So read the VPS software specification document carefully and you will come to know if you can install two different OS or not. The instruction about how to do it will be in the specification. It’s not so much difficult if you are familiar with VPS hosting.
