Can I downgrade my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.0?

I plan to downgrade my iPhone version to iOS 5.0. Is Apple still signing iOS 5.0? Currently, I have iOS on my iPhone and I followed the instructions on RedmondPie to downgrade. I manually added 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com to my host file.

I entered DFY with redsnow and Restored iTunes by pressing Alt+click. It was then extracting the files then verifying the restore with Apple. After all the steps done, I get an error:

The iPhone could not be restored. This device isn’t eligible for the request build.

How can I downgrade my iPhone?

I need it for some reason. Is there a way?

Please help.

Thank you.

Can I downgrade my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.0?

Ok friends thanks for asking to us. I also use the iPhone 3g and have been pretty good at jailbreak. Currently Apple has released the latest OS version (5.1.1) so it is not allowed to do downgrade below of that IOS. But if you have saved your iPhone SHSH on IOS 5.0 then you can do the downgrade.

The first way to resolve this is first, add the Saurik's server address "74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com" to your host files, click "SHIFT" + RESTORE button on ITunes then select your preferred IOS, waiting until progress is done.

Or you can try the another way. You need supporting tools called tinyumbrella that you can download in here http://blog.firmwareumbrella.com . Then running the tools, choose "Advanced" tab the make sure you uncheck the option "Set Host to Cydia on Exit" then close that tools. Open your ITunes, click "SHIFT" + RESTORE button on ITunes then select your preferred IOS, waiting until progress is done.

But thing that has to be noted is that this 2 ways to downgrade your IPhone is required saved SHSH on the IOS target. If you don't have SHSH so you cant do the downgrade since no another way to do it without saved SHSH.

Good Luck
