Modern warfare 2 0x80041002 error is usually initiated when the operating system's registry has errors or when some system files report missing or damaged. They show how unhealthy is your system. It is all about misconfigured system files. The reason it doesn’t affects your single player mode is that the files that are used in multi-player are the certain system files that have been somehow damaged or missing. In simple words, it is known as system’s registry problems. Kindly follow these steps:

  1. Download the error repair tool ‘RegCure’ from this website http://www.paretologic.com/lp/clickbank/regcure/11/index.php?hop=totalim
  2. Install the downloaded the tool.
  3. Press the scan button, after installation has finished and you have started the tool.
  4. After, the software has scanned and identified missing or damaged files, simply press the Fix button. In order to make sure the registry of the operating system is repaired.
  5. Then play the game in multiplayer mode.

Another solution what you can try is remove the game, restart the system. When system is started, disable your operating system’s anti-virus (irrespective of the anti-virus of you have). Disable the firewalls, because the communication of the parent directory is not interrupted. Then do a clean installation of the game again. It will work. Also make sure if you have downloaded the game over the internet without paying for, than be certain that the installation files are not corrupted. I hope after these you have solved the problem, and enjoying your game at the comfort of your home.

There seems to be a lot of users experiencing this error and none have actual solutions. Since you are able to play the game properly on single player mode but not on multiplayer, it could be a problem with your network device, internet connection, or the game itself. First, make sure the game is compatible with your computer.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

“Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare” supports Windows XP and Windows Vista only. Earlier operating systems are not supported. Also, if you are playing it on Windows 7 or higher, it could be the operating system since newer operating systems are not officially supported.

It requires 2.4 GHz or faster Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent AMD 64 2800+ or faster processor, 512 MB RAM, Microsoft DirectX 9.0c-compatible video card with 128 MB video RAM, sound card, 8 GB free space, and broadband internet connection for multiplayer sessions. Since broadband connection is required for multiplayer sessions and you have problems with multiplayer mode, I guess you should check your connection.

If you are using dial-up or wireless internet using 3G or 4G USB dongle, that’s probably the problem. Try shifting to a wired connection for a much stable connection. If you’ve downloaded the game, try downloading a new copy of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on Steam.

The game “Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare” is a first-person action shooter game developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision released on November 12, 2007.
