Hi! I have updated my website contents.

However, when I try to search for my website using Bing, the search results still shows a cached page of my old website.

How do I change the information that is appearing on the search results page for Bing?

All search engines have their own assigned servers that visit websites on the Internet and saves page contents on their database.

These programs are called crawlers; Crawlers are responsible for the cached pages on the search results. For Bing Search, the crawler that they are using is called BingBot.

It is possible that BingBot has not yet visited or crawled your site recently.

I suggest that you wait for fifteen to thirty days for the cached page of your website to update, this is the normal time period for crawlers visit websites.

Thank you for the response.

However, I have updated my website over 2 months ago, and the updates are still not showing on the Bing cached page. There are sensitive information that I removed from my website but those info are still showing on Bing.

I really need this removed as soon as possible.

Is there another way to remove cached pages rather than waiting for the BingBot to visit my website?

Since you are the site owner, there is a tool that you can utilize to remove the cached page immediately from Bing Search.

It is called the Bing Webmaster Tool.

Using this tool, you can create a robots.txt file that will request the BingBot to crawl your website within the time period that you prefer. You can also use the webmaster tool to improve your website’s ranking on the search results page.

Here are the steps to access the webmaster tool:

1. Create a Windows Live ID account that you can use to login to the Bing Webmaster tool. Visit this link for account creation

2. Once you have a Windows Live ID account, log in to the webmaster tool through Click

3. Add you website and then click on Verify now, and then follow the verification process. Once you have verified you website, the BingBot will revisit your website.

Wow thanks! Will these steps take effect right away?

Also, when I try to verify my website, I was given two verification methods, one is the XML file and the other one is the Metatag authentication method. I chose the Meta tag method and add the meta tag on my default page.

However, I keep on getting an error every time I verify the site. Any suggestion?

For the Meta tag verification method, make sure the <meta> tags are placed within the <head> tag and are coded on separate lines. For example:

<head>

<meta name="msvalidate.01" content="D48776F50D510C814D8E1E7C90147002" />

<meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

<meta http-equiv="Content-language" content="en" />

</head>

This is the coding format that the BingBot recognizes. Once you validated your website, the BingBot will crawl your site within 1-3 days. Better than the normal 15-30 days average crawl time.

Success!

I was able to validate my website! Thank you for all your suggestions.

Now I’ll wait for a few days and see if the cached page will update.

Thank again Yusef.
