Windows Update Standalone Install Error 0x80096002 happens due to misconfigured system files in our operating system. We get this error code when we try to install incompatible software or a driver onto our system.

Install the software/driver in compatibility mode.

In Compatibility mode, the program runs in the present version of Windows using the settings from the earlier version.

Steps:

  1. Download the software setup file.
  2. Right-click on the setup file and then click on properties.
  3. Click on the compatibility button, tick the box and run this program in compatibility mode. Select Windows 10 OS from the drop-down menu and proceed further. Now, restart the system and check if the process has been competent or not.
