Hi, I am a fresher from college and have just been recruited for the marketing team of a start up company. Since I am free to make a lot of choices, I want to research a lot before making a decision. I just want to know if buying email lists for marketing a bad idea. Because that’s what I want.

Is Buying Email Lists For Marketing A Bad Idea?

I am against buying email lists, even if you’re a desperate sales organization. Let me explain my line of thinking by citing a few facts:

1. Most email marketing vendors who are considered reputable would not risk their reputation by letting you send mails to lists you have bought. Also, turning to not-so-reputable email marketing vendors is a worse idea because they suffer from poor deliverability.

2. The addresses that the email list would provide would be, in all probability, low quality addresses which are not likely to bring you much business. It may cause harm to your IP reputation, because your email address will be identified as a spam by many honeypots.
