Solving built-in webcam issues:

  1. Go to Device Manager
  2. Check if all hardware is installed properly and recognized by the system. There is a possibility that the camera is being recognized but the right drivers may have not been installed properly (marked by a yellow exclamation point)
  3. Update the driver software or install the driver itself
  4.  If the issue persists, just uninstall your webcam’s software from ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS page found in the CONTROL PANEL
  5. Restart your computer then re-install the software
  6. Once your driver has been reinstalled and/or updated but you are still having the same issue, please check your settings for the program or application you are trying to use the webcam for (Skype) in case it needs to be configured and set it up properly to successfully use the webcam

If your built-in camera does not work on Skype, check first if the camera is really working. Click Start, All Programs, Acer Crystal Eye webcam, and then select Acer Crystal Eye webcam. The application should start the camera and you will see yourself on the screen. If you don’t see Acer Crystal Eye webcam in the Start menu listed under All Programs then the built-in camera maybe is not yet installed.

To use the built-in camera, you need to install the webcam software. Depending on your operating system, download the appropriate version for your computer. Download one of the following webcam drivers for Acer Aspire 5517:
