Building a machine for Photo Editing

Maybe I'll just give you things to consider when building a computer system for photo editing.

Processor – A Core 2 Duo should do. And it is quite cheap nowadays. If you are going for AMD route, then go Phenom II. Consider getting 2.66GHZ up if you can get it for cheap.

Video Card – Any card that has 1GB memory. One suggestion is ATI 5770, a very good price to performance ratio.

Memory – At least 4GB RAM, photo and video editing definitely has a high demand of memory usage. Remember to set proper Page Filing (for Windows platform) for better performance. If you find it slow, just add RAM.

Motherboard – Any motherboard that can support the above specifications. Also think rather 2 steps ahead in considering a motherboard, you may want to upgrade in the near future and your motherboard will be at least a foundation for your future upgrades.

Hope this helps.
