I also thought of that and it is the usual problem when shifting between 32-bit and 64-bit Microsoft Windows. Normally, when you buy a printer, the software that comes with it is often 32-bit compatible. There are also times the printer software supports both 32-bit and 64-bit. This is because there are less people using 64-bit Microsoft Windows and frequently private individuals use 32-bit Microsoft Windows.

What you can do right now since you shifted to 64-bit Microsoft Windows 7 is to download the 64-bit version of the printer software for Windows 7 from the manufacturer’s website.

Fortunately, your Brother MFC-J4310DW inkjet printer supports 64-bit Microsoft Windows 7. To download, visit Brother MFC-J4310DW Business Smart Inkjet Printer. The download page provides you with different downloadable programs for your printer. It also includes a firmware update tool that will allow you to update the firmware of your printer via the internet.

To make sure you install the complete software for your printer, download the Full Driver & Software Package which is around 100 MB.

Hello,

Consult the website of the printer manufacturer for device drivers. Also, check the OS website for updates or driver bundles that will solve this hardware problem. If there is a driver bundle available that addresses this issue, it will be clearly labeled as one which targets certain hardware groups from certain manufacturers. You can also search online for device drivers created by individuals. If that does not solve your problem, you can acquire a live linux distribution for the sole purpose of printing.
