I am receiving the error message “'bootmgr is missing” after upgrading my Windows 7 operating system from 32-bit to 64-bit.

I also have tried to repair it using the installation CD, but still receiving the error message.

Can anyone help me resolve the issue?

To resolve that problem, you will need to follow the steps below:

  • You will need to get your windows 7 installation DVD and then insert it into your drive.
  • After that you will restart the computer.
  • You will need to set up the computer to boot from the DVD or the CD in the BIOS.

Windows 7 will ask you for language and keyboard layout information, so you will provide those and after that you will be asked if you want to re-install windows 7 or you want to repair your existing installation.

You will choose the repair option, after that windows 7 System Recovery Tool will start.

You will need to choose Startup Repair and then you will let windows 7 do the rest
