Blue screen problem with error SPCMDCON.SYS Error

Hi,

I'm using a PC for the last 2 years. It worked fine then.  But recently I'm having a big problem. Sometimes my PC just hangs up and shows a blue screen with some error message with it.

I am posting part of it here:

“A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer

The problem seems to be caused by the following file: SPCMDCON.SYS…….”

How can I resolve this annoying trouble ?

Hey,

Your problem is a fishy one as most of the time the “Blue Screen Death” occurs and hangs up. But it seems you are having another type of problem.

For the first attempt to repair you can try this:

1. Reboot your PC and press “F8”, just before the Windows screen appears.

2. From the boot options, select “Last known good configuration”.

 See if it helps.

Ok, since rebooting with last known good configuration didn’t work, I think you should search for the (.sys) file. In your case the “SPCMDCON.SYS” file and reinstall/update it. As the blue screen shows that, the problem might be caused by the system (.sys) file.

Well I downloaded the .sys file, and reinstalled it but the problem remains.

It shows blue screen messages approximately after each 30-40 minutes.

Otherwise you have to repair your system using the bootable CD or DVD.

This would be very useful to solve your problem.

Ok.

The last thing you can try is, search the windows log to find out which program/software is causing the damage.

And here is how you do that:

  • Open control panel
  • Go to “Administrative Tools” and click on “Computer management”
  • Select the “Event viewer”
  • The event viewer will read all of the events has been run on your pc. Look for any “Critical” event. If there is more than one “Critical” event, then you should try to resolve them all.

Thank you guys.

I found my problem. The critical error was the corrupt Windows update.

So I am going to make a windows update.

Your system is showing the blue screen because there is some serious problem that is causing the operating system to restart or shutdown. The reason for the problem can be due to some new softwares that you installed or due to any hardware problem. You can try the following things to solve this problem.

1. You can restore the system to an earlier time, where there was no blue screen errors. In Windows 7 you can do this by typing in the search box for system restore. Then you will see the list from which you can select the system restore. You will be able to do this only if you had made the settings for backing-up your computer. So it is always good to back-up your system.

2. You can check the action center. If there is a solution for the problem you can see it there. You can open the action center by clicking on the start button and then selecting the control panel. You can see the action center. Open it there you will see the check for solutions, you can click on that to get the solutions. This will require Internet connection.

3. You can update windows, to update windows in the search box you can type the word update. You will see a list of items from which you can select check for update. This will require an Internet connection. Then you will see a list of available updates. From that you can select the updates that you require and you can click the button install.

4. If you have recently installed any hardware make sure that the driver installed for the device is the latest version and is compatible with the operating system. You can update drivers by right clicking the Computer icon on the desktop and you can select the properties. Then you can select the device manager, there you will see all the available devices. You can click the device that you want to update and then right click on that device and then you select update driver.

5. You can start your computer in safe mode; for that you can restart the system and then you press and hold the F8 key. Then you will see a screen with many options, then from the advanced boot options you can select the safe mode.

6. You can also check whether there is any hard disk or memory errors. You can open the computer icon and then you may right click on any hard drive  and select the properties. Then you can select the tools tab and in the error checking you can click on the  check now. You can do the same thing on each of the hard drive.

You can check for any memory problems also, for that  you can open control panel and then you can select administrative tools. There you can see memory diagnostics tool you can click on it to check your systems memory.

Otherwise you can reinstall the Windows 7 on your system.
