Dear Burton Tag. These are some causes as well as fixes for this error.

  • First and most important thing to ask yourself is that, what you did recently with your machine? New software installation, hardware upgrade, driver update or system update? These changes may have caused the BSoD. Simply undo recent changes by starting windows using last known good configuration, restoring system to a previous setting or by rolling back device drivers.
  • Verify if there is enough free space on OS installation partition.
  • Some viruses can also cause this problem. So, it will be good idea to scan your system.
  • Make sure that OS is updated to latest service packs and other updates.
  • Sometimes outdated device drivers can cause this problem, so try updating hardware drivers.
  • Sometimes changing hardware settings can cause this problem. So, try reverting these settings to default.
  • If BIOS settings have been customized, try loading the default ones. Also in some cases Updating BIOS can rectify this problem.
  • Check if all the cables, cards and other devices are placed accurately.

I hope this will help.

The blue screen error happens when a system failure is encountered. This error is similar to fatal error which you usually encounter in common programs. The blue screen error appears usually when you install a program that causes the system to fail or a hardware you added on your motherboard.

When the cause of the problem is the hardware you installed, it is not usually the hardware that directly causes the error. It is the program or software associated with the hardware that causes the error because it is the main component that has direct contact and communicates with the system.

When you encounter the blue screen error, the first thing you should do is to remember if you had a recent installation. If you have no previous or recent installation on the computer, just turn off the CPU and then turn it back on. It is probably just a normal glitch in the system. I usually encounter this.

But if you are installing something and the blue screen appeared, you should uninstall the program. You can uninstall the program in Safe Mode if the computer keeps on showing the blue screen. Once the computer is running normally again, install a different version of the program. If it is a driver for your hardware, look for another version compatible with your machine.
