Hello everyone,

A few days ago my computer started to get the blue screen of death, at first it would only happen when left idling but after a while it began happening when I was surfing the web as well.

I was only able to read a partial part of the error message – "Paged fault in non paged area".

Hi Tony!

Most of the times, the problem behind a blue screen error resides in the RAM chips. One of them might be damaged. To check if or which one of them is bad, remove the chips one by one and start the computer every time. If the computer starts and works fine when the bad one is out, clearly that was the problem.

The trouble may be caused by a bad driver. In this case, press F8 when the OS starts and then choose the Last Known Good Configuration. The computer will now restore the good drivers back into their place and will cancel any recent changes in your computer's configuration.

If there's a system service that doesn't work well, you can login in the Safe Mode and then go to Services, in the Administrative Tools section in Control Panel and then disable the service if you know exactly what that is.

Also, maybe the DVD you installed the operating system from is broken. Use a different CD or ask for a replacement at the store where you bought it. Check to see if your computer's characteristics match the necessary ones for the operating system you have.

Good luck with solving your problem!
