My Blackberry trackball sometimes do not respond, and sometimes pointing it to the left will make it stop working all of a sudden. I am way over my Blackberry warranty so I suspect Blackberry support will charge me for the fix. Can I fix this problem myself?

Can you describe more about the problem, sometimes it might be the trackball itself, every BlackBerry trackball has four tiny rollers in the inside, after some point of time they get clogged with dirt or other foreign particles which makes it pretty useless. If you are patient enough, provided you have the right tools you can try and clean it with a q-tip dipped in alcohol, or if you don't wanna break a sweat, you can order a trackball. Usually they are priced at 2-4$ and installation is very straight forward as well, hardly takes 5 seconds.

However if it is the chip on your blackberry, it will take a lot of money to get it repaired. I would suggest you to try a new trackball before you go to the technician, remember they charge about 5$ to check your phone for a defect in the first place.
