BIOS update interrupt on Dell

Hi there,

I have a Dell Inspiron 660 and it had BIOS version 2.5 and it was taking longer to boot so I thought I should update the BIOS version, I was doing okay until a power cutout occurred, when power resumed, I tried to boot the computer but nothing happened, the lights on LED is on but nothing else happens, how can I get my computer on again please!

Hi !

A failed BIOS update is a risky and an expensive procedure to get back your PC alive. Before you start the procedure you need to read your motherboard manual.

You have to follow two steps to get started. (is not a recommended procedure if you are not a professional)

1) You have to open up your computer case and change a jumper on the motherboard into the Recovery Mode Position (read the manual which is the Recovery Position-it differs from a motherboard to another).

The jumper is located near the BIOS battery. After the first step is finished, reboot your PC.

2) If the first step failed, you have to go with your PC to an authorized service to roll back the failed update and Rewrite your BIOS.
