I think you need to use the Google Docs Spreadsheet. I used it already and all I can say is, This is better than the Microsoft excel. They look the same but in the Spreadsheet it automatically save and it is easy to use.It is an online Docs and it is not only a spreadsheet. I hope my answer will help you with your problem.

If you want a local installation of an alternative excel or spreadsheet application, try first open office. Although it is not as functional or as powerful as Microsoft Excel, it does a nice job of creating simple spreadsheets andautocompute database files. But if you are looking for a much more robustand cost effective solution for your spreadsheet management, try Google Docs, as it not only performs like locally installed Microsoft Excel, but is available to you anywhere because it is a web based application.
