You needn't bother with employment experience. CCNA is an initial affirmation, and anybody with essential PC information can bounce right into the educational program, and with a decent study exertion, get the cert.
Getting a CCNA will set you up for work in systems administration, and having it on your resume will help you land a position.
I suggest getting a few books, concentrating on, and figuring out how to get hands on experience; whether through purchasing some hardware to play with, virtualisation programming, leasing "rack time", or getting into a system at a school or Cisco Networking Academy.
