For the passed five days there has been a very heated debate as to which of the branded compressors has been able to stand tall as the Number One and followed by which compressor type. There’s no best compressor in the world. Compressing means calculating files into a fixed algorithm, store algorithmic output and rebuild the file(s) while decompressing. There are many compressors online but few of them are quite effective.
First of all, for most users and for general purpose, 7-zip is the best. It comes with the support of almost all available compressing methods, support for many compressed file formats with a simple UI. Get 7-zip.
For tightest compressing, you can use UHARC. It’s available in GUI version, called WinUHA. It’s heavily dedicated for super pressure, turning archives into smaller than original files. But there lives a chance of data corruption and high CPU and RAM usage.
