Backup Exec 2012 installation error:

Hello,

Recently I installed the Backup Exec 2012 software on my Windows OS but it displayed an error message “Failed”. I upgraded this software to the new version and installed again but showed the same error.

I extremely need your help to fix this issue immediately.

Thanks.

Hi Erik,

Upgrading can never be simple like installing the update, you may need to follow a certain step to do this and this is usually true with anti virus software since you need to also import the virus keys and information to still keep your computer away from any vulnerabilities. You can try these steps here:

  1. Before updating, you need to run a full backup of your local drive or media server.
  2. Restart your computer to confirm all windows and other patches have completed.
  3. Make sure you also run a windows update and your hardware firmware are all updated. This is not to conflict with the update later on.
  4. Review the backup log.
  5. Document the existing serial numbers, found in basernum.xml in the root drive.
