Avid Media Composer fails to work with BMD Intensity Shuttle

Hello,

I have been using Media Composer 6.0.4 along with BMD’s Desktop Video 9.7.5 for a few months now and everything seemed to be working perfectly. However, when I upgraded to BMD’s Desktop Video 9.7.7, it seems that Desktop Video no longer works with Media Composer 6, and Media Composer crashes upon initializing hardware. I am using windows 7 Professional 64 bit and NVIDIA driver 310.90 on my computer. I tried to ensure that I was logged in as the administrator and again attempted running the application as administrator. But this did not give the desired result. Then I tried repairing permissions and tried opening the application. But still the error persists. Now I uninstalled this upgrade and rebooted my system. I perform a reinstall following this and then attempt to launch the application. The installation completed as smoothly as earlier without any errors or warnings but unfortunately the error refuses to budge. I am considering rolling back this upgrade. But the point is are these two applications really incompatible or is there any problem with my machine? Please let me know. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I’m not sure if using Blackmagic Design Desktop Video is really useful if you don’t have the device for it. The Blackmagic Design Desktop Video is used only together with a Blackmagic Design DeckLink 4K Extreme card. If you don’t have this device installed on your computer, there is no need for you to download and or upgrade Blackmagic Design Desktop Video.

If you have the Blackmagic Design DeckLink 4K Extreme card installed on your computer, it’s better to upgrade to the latest version. Download the latest version from Blackmagic Design Desktop Video 10.0. If Avid Media Composer 7 crashes while Blackmagic Design Desktop Video is running, maybe this is because of the insufficient resources available on the computer.

You should also check if you have too many startup programs running in the background. These programs add to the load of the memory and it would be better to close some of them if they are not needed. If you wish to download the latest version of Avid Media Composer, visit Avid Media Composer 7 Download.

This version requires x64 Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 or Windows 8 [Professional or Enterprise]. If you want to use it on Mac, it supports Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, 10.8 Mountain Lion, and 10.9 Mavericks all 64-bit.
