AutoDesk Revit 2012 gives an error after upgrading and saving a family

Hi,

I recently upgraded to Autodesk Revit 2012 and when I attempted saving a family in Revit 2012, I get an error message stating that a file was not found and this is followed by “File not Saved”. The complete error message is shown in the screenshot attached. I tried to find out what is causing this error and I was informed that this error is given when a parameter begins with a decimal. My project makes use of many dimensional parameters and some of these make use of fractions. So now will all those files containing fractions be discarded? How can I fix this issue? Please advice. I am eagerly waiting for a fix for I couldn’t possibly do without those parameters. Thanking you for all your suggestions. Regards

Before upgrading Autodesk Revit to version 2012, make sure this version is still supported by your operating system or this version, Autodesk Revit 2012, supports your operating system. This is important because sometimes the product drops support for an operating system or two that it thinks is no longer compatible with the new version.

When this happens, it is important to know if your operating system is the one being dropped or is hanging by the edge. It would also help if you update your operating system to the latest Service Pack to keep your system up-to-date even if you don’t install regular updates from the Windows Automatic Update, this is just the same.

Microsoft Windows Service Packs are the accumulation of all the updates especially the major updates of the operating system which fixes bugs and certain system inconsistencies and improves system processes. If this is an upgrade of Autodesk Revit, uninstall it and do a clean installation or simply reinstall the program.

Uninstall Autodesk Revit then click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and select Disk Cleanup. Select drive C and click OK. Check “Temporary files” and click OK. Wait for it to finish and restart your computer. Install Autodesk Revit 2012 then see if it works.
