This error is caused by an Invalid drive. In this case, it is the drive S:. To solve this problem, you could :

1. Run the command prompt as an Administrator. Press Start, All Programs, Accessories, and right click on command prompt.

2. In the Prompt, type in:

SUBST S: C:Temp

This line sets the imaginary or invalid drive S: to the C:Temp folder. If folder Is not present, Just create a folder there inside the Drive C: and name it Temp

3. Run the installer

4. If installing is complete, you could then delete the substitute directory. Use:

SUBST S: /d

on the prompt.

This should fix the problem.

If you cannot install AutoCAD on your computer, you are probably using a non-admin account. Though a non-admin account can sometimes install applications, programs like AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, CCleaner, and some other programs that require global modification to the system needs an administrator account. This protects the system from unauthorized modification. If you need to install AutoCAD, log in to the computer with an administrator account.

If you don’t have an admin account, ask someone with an admin account or the administrator of the computer to install the program for you. Also, before installing AutoCAD 2012, check that your computer meets the requirements.

Autodesk AutoCAD 2012 supports Windows XP (Home or Professional edition) Service Pack 3, Windows Vista (Enterprise, Business, Ultimate, or Home Premium edition) Service Pack 2, and Windows 7 (Enterprise, Ultimate, Professional, or Home Premium edition). It requires 1.6 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent Dual-Core AMD Athlon or faster processor with SSE2 support, 1 GB RAM, 1.4 GB free space, and 1024 x 768 minimum screen resolution.

If you’ll be installing from a CD or DVD disc, an optical drive is needed for the installation.
