WMV is one kind of media file. You don't need to extract audio from the video. You can use some player softwares which allow you to play a video in slow speed such as VLC Media Player, Cyberlink Power DVD etc. These softwares have speed utility with which you can play the video in slow speed which will help you to listen and type easily.

If still you want to use Video to Audio converter, just download and install it. In its main control panel, you will see options to convert. Just use it.

But converting needs a long time. So I suggest you to use the media player softwares I've listed above to play videos in slow speed.

Hello Mr. Scottirussells.

There are many converters for this operation. But I would suggest you to use Xilosoft video to audio converter, version 7.3.0.

I am also using this software in my laptop. This is a very smooth software and also easy to use. You can convert your WMV files to mp3 using this converter. You can also convert other video formats like AVI, MP4, MPEG etc. You can even extract audio from movies. You can download this software from http://www.xilisoft.com/video-to-audio-converter.html. You can also download a trial version. Download and install this software. You will get instructions then. This will give you a excellent quality of audio file.

Thank you for your question.

Extracting the audio from a video is just like converting a video to another format like from WMV to AVI, MP4, and others. To extract the audio from the video, you simply need to convert it into an audio format like from WMV to MP3. Here’s an example using ImTOO MPEG Encoder Platinum. In ImTOO MPEG Encoder Platinum, load the video where the audio will be extracted.

Once the video is loaded, under “Target”, select an audio format like “MP3,” for example.

Select target audio format

Next, click on the pencil icon to show the “Advanced Profile Settings.” In Advanced Profile Settings, make sure “Start Time” is set to “00:00:00” so the conversion will begin from the start of the video. In “Duration,” you can set the time where the audio or the conversion ends. Leaving it in its default setting, “Full,” will convert the entire file.

Set the length of the conversion

Configure the rest of the settings and then click on the red circle to begin the conversion. And that’s it. The output file should now contain the audio of the video.
