I am an online transcriptionist and my company requires me to download a free software called Audacity. However, I am afraid that it might contain malware or adware that my current antivirus (Avast) will not be able to prevent. Will it be safe to download Audacity with my current antivirus?

Well avast is an exceptionally good antivirus. And I don’t think that Audacity will have viruses if you download it. By the way, it would have been better if you would have mention which operating system you are using. Also you didn’t mention whether you are using a free version of avast or the full version. Full version avast will be able to track the virus and remove it but not the trial version. And if you think that avast doesn’t work well, try using avira. It is pretty good and I personally prefer it. Hope this information helps you.
