Hi i'm helping my cousin's computer.

He has a ATI Radeon xpress 200 series Graphic cards and we are trying to update the drivers.

The graphics card was working just fine and the drivers were in place.

Then it appears to be that we get a vga driver error.

Any thoughts we need your help, Thank you.

Setup was unable to complete the installation.

Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup.

It means that it can not update the video card with the new driver because the video card is still using the previous version.

In other words, it can not uninstall the previous version of the driver to install the updated version.

Maybe it encountered an error while uninstalling the previous driver and suggested an option of installing the update where the video card is only using the basic video driver.

The message “Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup” means that it wants you to manually uninstall the video card’s current driver and then restart the setup.

If you uninstall its driver the video card will only use Windows’ basic video driver that is included in the operating system.

This is the standard VGA display that is normally used by Windows after its installation.

After uninstalling the driver install again the updated version of the video card’s driver.
