I have one question and I will be very grateful if you help me.
I am hesitating between two video controllers:
ATi HD3650, 1GB PowerColor, AGP8x, DDR2, 128bit, DVI, TV Out
ATi HD4670, 1GB PowerColor, AGP8x, DDR3, 128bit, DVI,
My video slot is AGB x8 on Asus K8V-X SE Motherboard. So my question is can my Motherboard use DDR3 memory?
In this case 4670 with GDDR3 will be much faster than 3650.Â
My concern is your older Motherboard probably you have slow CPU, which can`t use the full potential of 4670.
My CPU is AMD ATHLON 64 3000+ 2GHz and I have 2GB RAM.
Your CPU is from the first A64 with one core, its equivalent to P4 with netburst architecture with 3GHz frequency. An adequate video controller for this CPU is something like Radeon 1900 or GF 7900, 4670 is around 2x faster.Â
To utilize 4670 you need a faster CPU, something with 2 cores or at least Semtron 140.
So if your video controller is GF 7600 or better, there is no sense to upgrade.
I am with GF 6600 and I am really up to saving money for 4670.Â
GF6600Â is just too slow.
Radeon 3870 in certain games, while the 3650 is well.Â
Not even as powerful as the Radeon 3850.
Still the 4670.

It depends on what you are using your PC. If you want to play the newest games, it`s quite impossible, but if you are using it to watch HD movies, may be then its worth its money. Yes 4670 is better, but AGP is not good investment though.
The VCs are too high priced and you can`t use them when you upgrade.
